My name is Veronika Babos.

I intend to open up a window onto a world, offering a point of encounter for rebellion, femininity and handicraft with my works.

In my pieces of artistic production, you can discover a mixture of subtle sentiments and diversity merging my typical horoscopic marks, which I simply call SilverMorpho.

My creative life, parental background and private life are not separable from my works. Given the fact that both of my parents are recognized painters and my brother is an outstanding artist, one has nothing to do but start to rebel and want to become something else. But how could one possibly be any different when they imbibe art from infancy?

In the secondary school, I trained myself in the field of computer science but later I made a change in my studies to orient towards arts and design, which made possible for me to start a career already as a typographer and advertising graphic designer. I had a try in fashion design and web design in which I learned that apart from self-expression, art could, at one and same time, be considered also a product. This kind of attitude may come in quite handy in observing deadlines, recognizing the world’s diversity as well as in developing adaptability.

After ten years of active work, I realized that virtual and digital techniques gained too much dominance in my works and I started to rebel again.

I have prepared for a new life now. The basis of my art is constituted by easy playfulness which breaks away from the scentless and imperceptible nature of the digital work’s stranglehold. My style is characterized by creations that are free of restraints, full of energy and inspired by cog-wheels, old clock movements, Costa Rica butterflies and by the steampunk trend. 

With this, I feel I have returned to my roots and SilverMorpho encourages myself to become rebellious again and emboldens me to produce an ever-increasing number of artworks.
